Event Planning Tips

  • Tip: How to choose a Disc Jockey
When looking for the right music to play at your event the best place to start is to ask around for recommendations. After receiving recommendations don't be shy to ask questions to the jockeys you are interviewing for your event, perhaps even going to one of his events to observe his styling and see if you mesh well. Make sure that the jockey knows when you want certain songs played and what type of music is and isn't allowed at the event.

  • Tip: Can't afford a Disc Jockey?
Why not download a variety of play lists, rent some speakers and use your mp3 player to crank out some tunes for you?

  • Tip: Choosing Flowers/Florist
First remember your budget when you're about to purchase all your flowers. Yes flowers can be expensive but there are ways to enjoy your day. Try sticking to flowers that are in season, and also local or easy for your florist to get their hands on (try and avoid shipping exotic flowers unless you can afford them). Perhaps instead of all those roses on the reception tables, you could opt for Gerber daisies instead? Talk to your florist and see what they can do for you to help make your wedding picture perfect.

  • Tip: Choosing an Entertainer for your party
Clowns and other characters can help liVen up any children's party. Talk to your child to see what type of party they like or think of what they are into. Like Spiderman? Perhaps a live Spiderman showing up would make their day. If your child is more of the Princess maybe Cinderella, fairy gOdmother or any other princess showing up would really add a wow factor. Clowns can also add to the event by serving as magicians, storytellers, balloon makers, or even puppeteers. Find out what your clown can provide and even consider booking more than one at a time.

  • Tip: Party Invitation Ideas
Written invites are a great idea. Try to make them fun and different. Use your personality but don't forget the basics like: hours. Tell your guests when the party starts and when it will end. Specify the hour in advance to avoid confusion. Let your guests know what kind of attire is appropriate. If your anticipating a semi-formal gathering let them know.

  • Tip: Guest Books
Providing a guest book can be much fun and help make the party memorable. Don't be afraid to put out a guest book and Invite your partiers to sign as they arrive.

  • Tip: Balloons
Try and coordinate the type of balloonS and styles that you want to have with the theme of your party. Don't overwhelm the area with too many, remember you want your guest to be able to move around easily and not have to maneuver decorations. Also remember that if you are using helium balloons, to keep them away from any open flames or heat source.
